SPIE-WHS have achieved the BSC International Safety Award for the 40th consecutive year!

SPIE WHS (formally EI.WHS) are delighted to announce that they have been successful in achieving the British Safety Council International Safety Award for the 40th consecutive year, the longest run of any company in the UK.

Originally founded in Teesside in 1927 as A. Anderson & Son, the company has developed through structural change and acquisition before becoming EI.WHS. In September 2009 EI.WHS joined SPIE, European leaders in electrical, mechanical and HVAC engineering, energy and communications systems; now re-branded as SPIE WHS, the “Industry’s Choice” company work alongside SPIE Matthew Hall, offering services to the UK market.

As a major Electrical and Instrumentation contractor specialising in the industrial market, SPIE WHS has a natural exposure to many of the “high risks” of construction and takes these matters very seriously. The company works across a number of heavy industry sectors including chemical, petrochemical, steel, oil, gas, water and power.

A positive Health and Safety culture has always been considered fundamental for the environments in which we work and everyone understands its importance to our employees, our clients and to our future.

The International Safety Award was first achieved before the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 which we believe is testament to the fact that good Health and Safety practice was being exercised long before many other companies were even thinking about it.

We believe that the development and sharing of best practice is essential in our commitment for continual improvement and that active participation in NESHEP over the years since its inception has been the biggest vehicle for providing this. The partnership comprises of a group of over 60 contractors of various disciplines who provide services to clients in the North East and who are committed to the promotion and maintenance of excellence in safety, health and environmental management and performance. The common belief amongst members is that accidents are preventable and that by sharing best practice we will help to keep our workforces safe and our client sites accident free.

We are extremely proud of this award and recognise that it would not have been possible without the support and environments created by our Clients. We thank you for this and hope that we can continue to build on these strong, successful relationships.

Health & Safety is a continuous journey; everyone at SPIE WHS is committed to maintain our high standards regarding the Health and Safety of our employees, our clients and the public.
