New Noise at Work legislation came into force on 6 April 2006.HSE,s Noise
website has been updated and improved to include:
1) detailed information about the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005;
2) answers to common questions for people worried about their hearing;
3) advice for employers,to help you implement the new laws;
4) news about the national awareness-raising campaign running in Spring 2006
c) Rumour of the week
"Have ladders and stepladders been banned"?
Despite rumours to the contrary,HSE has not banned ladders or any other type of
access equipment.But ladders should be used only when all other safer
alternatives for work at height have been ruled out. A risk assessment must show
that the task is low-risk (for example, the worker is not carrying heavy loads).
