What is the North East SHE Partnership? We are a group of about 50 contractors of various disciplines who provide services to clients in the North East and who are committed to the promotion and maintenance of excellence in safety, health and environmental (SHE) management and performance. We believe that accidents are preventable and that by developing and sharing best practice we will help to keep our workforces safe and our client sites accident free. This will represent good business for everyone.
What are the benefits of membership?· Progressive sharing of current SHE initiatives and best practice in the North East to achieve continual improvement · A forum to contribute your ideas and to seek solutions to your SHE management problems · Access to useful, economic and local SHE training programs · Hear the HSE perspective on current health and safety issues, first hand · Network with contractors and client representatives who are also committed to SHE improvement · Recognition of your commitment via your membership certificate and hat and van stickers etc.
How does the Partnership Function? The Partnership holds meetings with members and supportive clients every two months at a central venue. These meetings include the presentation of a learning event from a member company and reports and presentations from each of the working subgroups, the HSE and the Partnership chairman. The Partnership has formed subgroups from representatives of member companies to develop initiatives and communicate these to the membership for the benefit of all. The current subgroups cover the following topics: · Sharing Best Practice · Training and Development · Membership · Environment · Health · Measurement · Promotion and Publicity The subgroup chairpersons meet at the Partnership Steering Group every other month to agree new initiatives and the way forward.
What is the Membership Commitment?Membership of the North East SHE Partnership requires a commitment to the promotion and maintenance of excellence in SHE management and performance. Demonstration of this commitment requires the following from each member:
· Implementation of an annual SHE Improvement Plan so that an organisation's safety, health and environmental management and performance can be systematically improved, year upon year. Audit of the implementation of this plan will further demonstrate your commitment to improve
· Submission of annual accident statistics so that the performance of member organisations in achieving a safer workforce can be measured and compared to our targets and to industry norms
· Participation in the meetings, subgroups and audit of members SHE Improvement Plans. This is essential to achieve the Partnership objectives, drive the improvement process forward and convince our customers and others of its value in keeping people safe and maintaining business efficiency.
· Payment of the annual subscription fee. This is now set at £150 and provides funding for our administration, meeting arrangements, training and promotion initiatives.
